Retaining Wall at Residence

This is a retaining wall. Usually they are used when the slope would be less than practical for the landscaping around a house or business. Sometimes hills are too high or too steep.

In the case of this old house, the grade is so steep it took three retaining walls (four layers) to get up to the top level.

While I'm not very fond of retaining walls, this one looked new and was kept fairly well, so it didn't look too bad.
