This column of rock and fence sits at an entrance to a nice housing development. The fence is falling apart and seems to be rotting from head to toe. I'm surprised the residents have let it get out of hand for so long. Its an eyesore to an otherwise nice neighborhood.
This is one of the problems with these limited access neighborhoods in Texas. No one, not even the homeowners associations, want to take care of maintaining the fences, walls, and landscaping.

That's because it costs a freakin' fortune to keep up with it all. You'd die to know what our HOA dues are. They've hit us with 3 extra road maintenance assessments in the past two years for a wolloping $1500/house ON TOP OF our crazy dues that also went up last year.
When you buy a house in one of these development beasts, it's not just mortgage payments that you have to consider.
Live and learn.
Love your fences!
I can empathize with you, Carol. I remember my brother went through fits many years ago with his homeowners association. And a development here in the Metroplex, every year there is some big blowup because of their Christmas light requirement, etc. I've even spoken to people where the homeowners associations try to limit kids playing in the driveway, what bushes you can plant, and so on. And the fees they can assess are unreal.
Hey, I'm in the Metroplex, too. You can come take a picture of our neighborhood fence with it's massive 'lectric gate that's out of order half the time and the railings that are falling down.
Seriously.
I draw the line on Christmas lights, man. I'll do the Griswald thing if they even try to go there with me. heh
