Ocean Fence- Fish Farm

Annie Lou poses at an underwater fence used to farm fish in the ocean at the Taal Volcano (Philippines). The fence is a permanent fixture and used year round as the fishermen breed, capture, then sell the fish at the local markets. This type of breeding allows the fish to be raised in their natural environment and also causes minimal impact to the environment.

Giant Pigs?

These giant pigs are located in a field across from the Vista Ridge mall in Lewisville. Since the business that owns the land was closed on Sunday, I was unable to get closer, and I was by myself so I was unable to get anything next to the pigs that would give them some scale.

Also, I don't know what they are made of. But from the highway (I-35E and/or TX 121) they look real, though obscenely huge.

I will have to return again soon so I can get closer to them.

Huge Automatic Gate

This is one of the largest automatic gates I've come across in Coppell. The second picture shows the fence it is connected to, as well as the guard shack which houses the security officer that limits access to authorized vehicles only.

Panchos Mexican Buffet

Panchos is a Texas family tradition. This all-you-can-eat cafeteria style restaurant serves a variety of Tex-Mex food at inexpensive prices most families can afford.

As you go through the serving line the first time, you can pick your favorite items such as Flautas, Enchiladas, Tacos, Fried Chicken, and many more. After paying, simply find yourself a seat of your choosing, and you're ready to get started.

The most fun for the children comes when you've cleaned your plate and are ready to summon your server for a refill. Each table is equipped with a small flag in the center of the table that you simply raise, and the servers, who are usually helping other tables or standing to the side waiting for the flags, will come over and take your refill order.

Included is a bottomless pit of tortilla chips and hot sauce, and a side bar with sour cream, guacamole, and other things to supplement your plate. Also included in the desert bar is soft serve ice cream with toppings, brownies, and cinnamon pastries. And if you are in the mood for Soppapias, simply ask your server to bring you a hot, fresh batch. Honey is provided on the table!

Kids 4 to 11 get a discounted child's price, and kids 3 and under eat FREE!

Train Tracks

This fence separates a parking lot from some railroad tracks running through Coppell. I've always wanted to be able to get close enough and see over the small hill so I could see how close the parking lot comes to the tracks on the other side. There appears to be a light post that is directly on the other side. But, I believe it is quite a ways away and nothing more than an optical illusion.

Hurricane Ike Damage

Ike wreaked havoc all the way up into the Metroplex today. This fence in north Fort Worth was unable to withstand the high winds and large drops of rain.
