For over 25 years Fossil Rim has provided a 9.5 mile drive through 1700 acres of an African Safari, in Glen Rose, Texas.
Located less than an hour and a half drive from the Metroplex, Fossil Rim lets you see deers, rhinos, giraffes, and other animals living in their near natural environment. And it doesn't matter if it raining, snowing, or hot- the animals are out and about all year long.
From the comfort of your own vehicle, you'll drive through forest, Savannah-like pastures, and see the animals up close and personal. And to add to the excitement and entice the animals to give you a close visit, a bucket of food can be purchased at the entrance and used to lure the animals to your vehicle.
But Fossil Rim is more than just a cruise through the wildlife, there's a whole lot more.
Half way through your drive, you'll find a picnic area, cafe, gift shop, and children's zoo. There's also a place to take a short hike on foot. And for those that love it so much they want to stay, lodging is available (by advanced reservation only). Choose either the Lodge or the Foothills Safari Camp.
Rain or shine, the park is always open, and you can plan on taking two or three hours for your basic drive through. It's a great way to spend the day with the family, or get away and relax on your own.

For an extra charge, guided tours are available if you'd rather be escorted than drive your own vehicle.

Love the blog. I have been wanting to visit Fossil Rim for a while now. I think we may just have to look into going. I'm sure my girls would enjoy it.
