Fort Worth Filipino Market

On the west side of Fort Worth, in an area known as "White Settlement" (oddly enough), there is one of the Metroplex's only Filipino markets.

The Fort Worth Filipino Market is a small but plentiful grocery providing many specialty items that cater to anyone who enjoys Filipino food, whether Filipino or not.

While there are several Asian markets in the area, most have limited sections of Filipino specific ingredients, and many don't have anything at all. So its a nice change in pace when we get to visit and quit making due with what we can find, and can instead find what we want.

Some of our favorite Filipino foods and ingredients you will find there include Silver Swan soy sauce, Lumpia wrappers, Milkfish, Red Snapper, Tulingan, Mama Sita's mixes, Yan-Yan, Chippy, and of course- Rice!

While there, they also provide services for both Filipino and other immigrants in the community, such as Forex Balikbayan Boxes, Forex Money Remittance, Western Union Money Remittance, and even Filipino movie rentals (and you can purchase as well).

The Fort Worth Filipino Market is owned by Naomi, a super friendly Filipina from Cotabato, Mindanao island, who will always tell you, "Maraming Pong Salamat Say Inyong Pagtangkilik" (Thank you for your patronage).

For more information, visit the Fort Worth Filipino Market online.

Texas Roadhouse

The other day was our first visit to the Texas Roadhouse restaurant, where they serve hand-carved steaks, award winning ribs, and a variety of other delicious Texas style meals in an environment that lets you know you are in a piece of the Lone Star State.

Each visit provides you with fresh, hot bread, served with plain or honey butter, as well as all you can eat peanuts out of a metal tin while you wait for your meal. But be careful- it's easy to get full before your meal ever arrives!

Below is an actual picture of the hamburger and fries I ordered. It was delicious, though I must admit I am more fond of "regular" hamburger buns than I am the roll buns that Texas Roadhouse serves.

TV Stands

The day is quickly approaching where TV stations across America will be turning off their analog signals and only those with digital TV and/or converters will be able to watch. So if you are upgrading your TV, why not purchase a new tv stand to go with it? Even if you are keeping your same TV, maybe you just want something a little nicer.

New Texas Wanderer Format

A short while ago I gave Texas Wanderer a complete overhaul, trying to make the colors and theme of the blog fit better with the content. Thank you to all who dropped me a message, comment, and email letting me know how much you like it, and for the constructive criticism as well.

Last night Annie and I spent hours working through the code again, trying to make it load faster, look sharper, and to make sure the links and other things we lead to were easy to find and easy on the eyes. Hopefully this second mini-overhaul has made it even better.

Thank you to all who visit, comment, and hopefully when you start wandering around Texas, you'll keep us in mind and come back to look at some places you want to visit.

Burlington Coat Factory

If you are from a warm climate and visit Texas during the winter, in many parts of the state you will need a coat and a windbreaker, at the very least. Temperatures can drop down into the teens, even when its been warm during the day.

Our favorite place to find such items is the Burlington Coat Factory. They have a great selection of heavy, medium, and light wear coats and jackets, as well as a wide variety of other items for your home and body. You can find baby furniture, strollers, cribs, coats, frames, pillows, bedding, wallets, hats, and so much more.

The prices are also very reasonable, and it seems they always have a great sale going on for one reason or another.

So if you are in Texas, be sure to stop into a Burlington and pick up everything you need!

One way to secure your financial life is to visit the technical and vocational school guide, then get the education you need to earn the money you deserve.

A1 Super Buffet in Haltom City

Annie and I discovered a new Asian restaurant on Belknap street, located in a predominately Asian/Vietnamese area of town just east of downtown Fort Worth in Haltom City.

The A1 Super Buffet is absolutely huge and has a magnificent variety of Asian cuisine that just about anyone will love. Included in the buffet is a Mongolian grill, free ice cream for desert, and just about every dish that the typical Chinese restaurant in this area of the country has, plus some more! The buffet, as well as the dining area, is huge.

Since we had just grocery shopped at the Saigon-Taipei supermarket next door and purchased quite a bit of fish for me, I stuck to the chicken offerings- BBQ chicken on a stick, sweet and sour chicken, spicy chicken, sesame chicken, orange chicken, and a stir fry assortment of chicken and veggies. I also tested the Mongolian beef, which wasn't quite as spicy as I like, but was still very pleasing.

Annie on the other hand dug into the fresh seafood you see pictured below. I bet next time they see a pregnant Pinay coming they'll lock the door!

New Jersey Vacation

After spending some time wandering around Texas, you might be wondering about some other exciting places around the country to visit. And while New Jersey isn’t probably one of the first places that come to mind, I can tell you that its a beautiful state that has a lot of wonderful, fun, and exciting attractions for adults and families alike!

After you’d made the decision to travel to the northeast, you’ll want to know about the fun things to do in New Jersey. One of the best things to take is a Jersey Shore beach Vacation where you’ll find Morey’s Piers and all the entertainment they have to offer.

By visiting the website you can not only learn more about this New England attraction, but can also find hotels and motels in Wildwood that are great to stay at for reasonable prices with the best of accommodations.

Having been a staple in New Jersey for great attractions, the amusement park rides are just the beginning. Check out other boardwalk attractions and find announcements about its annual holiday sale. Running from December 1 to January 9 customer can save nearly 40% on a season pass to both waterparks.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio

Six Flags Fiesta Texas, located in San Antonio, is the second of two theme parks in Texas. Like its counterpart in the Metroplex, Fiesta Texas offers a variety of rides, food, live shows, and other entertainment.

Unfortunately I've only had the opportunity to visit this park twice, but one of my daughters has been down several times over the last few years. She says, though it seems smaller than the one in Arlington, that it is just as much fun and has had a lot of growth over the last few years.

When we went several years ago, it was a lot more spread out than the Six Flags in Arlington. It reminded me in a lot of ways of Sea World and the long distances between each attraction. Also, the temperature was extremely hot, it seemed a lot more dry than it does here and there was a lot less entertainment under a roof to protect us from the sun.

But it was a great time, and my daughter that has been several times has had the opportunity to go to both Six Flags parks here in Texas multiple times, so if she says it would be worth a visit, I'd take her word for it!

Lingerie in Texas

Even in Texas, cowgirls like to look feminine and sexy, and though there are a lot of places to find lingerie, sometimes the prices can be more than what is practical to spend. But there is a site on the internet that provides cheap lingerie either for yourself or for the lady in your life. Teddies, corsets, bustiers, and baby dolls can be found with a huge assortment of each.
