Texas Badlands

The Caddo Lake Territory was once the Badlands of Texas.

After the Louisiana Purchase it became a disputed area. Spain and the U.S. both claimed it. After many years of squabbling, they decided it would be neutral territory.

Unfortunately, as a result it became a refuge for outlaws, robbers and killers. Thus the name Texas Badlands.

After Texas won its independence, the dispute continued. Sam Houston had to go to the territory personally and put an end to the dispute.
