Founded as an Indian trading post in 1836, Huntsville has maintained it's small town, southernly charm, while at the same time providing plenty of family fun for those vacationing in the area.
Some of the places worth visiting are the Texas Prison Museum, the Sam Houston statue (and visitors center), the downtown courtyard square, and of course the university.
Located approximately 170 miles south of Dallas, there are plenty of lakes, camping areas, and lots of swimming holes to enjoy during the summer.
