Corpus Christi

Trophies
I loved playing sports as a kid, and the thing I remember most about it was the great trophy we got at the end of each season. Even if we didn’t win we received a trophy for our efforts and it meant a lot to each and every one of us.

More on TOADS
Many old west Texans have the belief that the Texas Horny Toad can live many years without food, water or air.
In 1897 Ernest Wood and friends decided to prove it. Eastland county was building a new courthouse and Ernest as county clerk was helping with the dedication. Many articles of the period were put into the cornerstone.
Ernest and a friend placed a horned frog that his son had found. Many years passed and tourists came to see the resting place of the horn toad. The town of Eastland became a worldwide attraction.
In 1928, when a new courthouse was built and the cornerstone opened there were over 2000 people on the town square. First to be removed was the newspapers then the other articles. Last of all was a dusty, dead looking toad.
The crowd cheered as the toad began to move. Immediately the toad was given the name Rip Van Winkle. It was reported that Old Rip was fine except for a broken leg and he was getting stronger every day. When he died years later his body was embalmed and displayed at the Eastland County courthouse.

Water in Texas
Water is the recurring subject in Texas. Lack of it that is. Old timers say that when Noah built the ark and it rained 40 days and 40 nights that Texas only got quarter of an inch.
Texas has rivers, springs, creeks, washes, gullies, branches, and bayous. But in west Texas most dry up and nothing remains but the remnants.
Water is so important to a town that if they have water they often name the town after it. There is Sweetwater, Big Springs, Clear Creek, Little Creek, Lake Worth and Lakeside.
Texans know that beside the river or creek is the coolest air and the greenest grass.

ATV Tires
There’s one popular fun thing to do here in Texas, and that is going off road and getting in the dirt and mud and slinging it as far as it can be slung.
While we take care of our ATVs, we also want to save as much for things such as ATV Tires so we can spend more money going places and on gas and be able to go off road more often.
